The Bracketts Ma Brackett, Pa Brackett, and their daughter Winona are more concepts than characters.
The family could best be described as a largely-offensive trope of rural Americans.
The Bracketts are not merely a stereotype exploited for cheap scares.
Theyre caricaturespowered by Currys camp commitment to joyful evil.
Ma is meek, polite, and shuffling.
She waits for Pas approval for any decision-making and quietly knits as the men talk.
Pa, donning his overalls, is proud and loud.
He walks with stereotypical command of the space, smoking an old wood pipe.
He tries to convince Winona he loves her, to marry her and escape.
He seemingly pulls it off, later shooting Winona as a wedding present.
But Ma and Pa Brackett discover him as he attempts to hide Winonas body.
To boot, Winona rises from the dead.
These are no mere country bumpkins.
These may not be human beings at all.
These episodes are to die for!
