But after all he goes through to hear it, the prophecy gets little explanation.
Neville was as likely to be the subject as Harry until the second part of the prophecy was fulfilled.

Legacy isn’t always so clear-cut.

Voldemort only knew of the prophecy because Snape told him what he heard.
While Snape claims to love Lily Potter, he is also the reason Voldemort chooses to kill her.
Instead, the prophecy and his backstory do not get the focus they deserve, leaving the significance unexplored.
With their warning about Lord Voldemort’s return scoffed at, Harry and Dumbledore are targeted by the Wizard authorities as an authoritarian bureaucrat slowly seizes power at Hogwarts.
