Sitcomshave been a television staple for essentially as long as there have been television sets in most households.
It was quirky andgenerally pretty solid as far as family-friendly sitcoms more or less about family go.

Its simple, but it works.
Well, it did work, for an impressive seven seasons in the end.
‘Taxi’ (19781983)
Created by James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, Et al.

As far assitcoms from the 1970sgo,Taxiholds up surprisingly well.
Its also probably the show for whichAndy Kaufmanis best known… unless you want to countSaturday Night Live.
It has a good heart and all, for those who like comedic shows of that sort.

Roseanne theneffectively becameThe Conners, a sitcom without Roseanne that ran for 100+ episodes and was also moderately successful.
‘Louie’ (20102015)
Created by Louis C.K.
It had a 10-season run, and in the end, it aired an impressive 236 episodes.

As it goes on, it gets considerably darker, more experimental, and almost uncomfortably introspective.
Even something as beloved asBlackadderonly has four seasons, with each season being just six episodes long.
In all honesty, that’s enough forThe Honeymoonersto be considered an all-time sitcom.

As the show itself argues time and time again, life’s really not fair, is it?
Also, contrary to popular belief,Seinfeldwas not a show about nothing.
It was a show about all the little things that TV shows aren’t usually about.

Its legacy casts a shadow over them all.
It’s hard to argue withLucy, really.
Maybe you just gotta love her.

There have beenamazing seasons ofThe Simpsonsand there have been rather ordinary seasons of the show.
But at the end of the day, whenThe Simpsonswas on fire, it was basically a perfect sitcom.
They live up to the hype, and will continue to do so potentially forever.
