Family Guyis one ofthe most iconic cartoons for adults ever made.

In the process of doing so, it can also inhabit or embrace some of these genres.

That includes science fiction, largely (though not exclusively) thanks to Stewie.

Meanwhile, Stewie jealously tries to kill a kid who beat him at swimming.

This leads to a near-death experience, a nice phase, and alcoholism.

So, what makes this a sci-fi episode?

These three episodes were also released as a direct-to-video movie calledStewie Griffin: The Untold Story.

Funny enough, this episode also has a brief moment with storm troopers.

There are still lots of jokes and insights forStar WarsandFamily Guyfans to enjoy.

8"Bango Was His Name, Oh!"

Convinced that this man must be his father, Stewie sets out to San Francisco to find him.

That’s not what makes this a sci-fi episode, though.

In the meantime, Lois and Peter take a stab at show their kids how to date.

The reveal at the end cements this as one ofStewie’s best episodes by far.

Lois soon becomes the bar’s singer, and she charms the guys with her voice and good looks.

In this story, it’s nice to see her get some much-needed appreciation.

Meanwhile, Stewie is teething.

Peter and Lois in Something, Something, Something Dark Side episode of Family Guy

In the end, the main and side plots converge and Stewie’s time machine comes to the rescue.

How ironic that the character who spends so much time trying to kill his mother winds up saving her.

By now, Chris is a pushover, Brian’s dead, and we’ve had a President Douchebag.

This leads to a fun and lengthy homage toFerris Bueller’s Day Off.

This was actually supposed to be aFamily Guymovie, but it was cut up into three episodes instead.

Also available on DVD, this experiment lands on its feet.

Peter sighs, “Let’s just get through this,” which is a good start.

That text crawl is the funniest and most exasperated one of the three.

However, Stewie is the family baby, and he wants to keep it that way.

His attempts to stop them from having intercourse become more and more sophisticated.

All the sperm are like spaceships, which amusingly also have the ability to shoot lasers.

The battle that ensues is very action-packed, and Stewie meets his match along the way.

Great moments include Quagmire dangling keys for Chris, Mayor West at the hospital, and the evil monkey.

Episodes like this demonstrate thatFamily Guyis arguablySeth MacFarlane’s greatest show.

2"Da Boom!"

Like other Y2K-believers, Peter is certain that the world is going to end at midnight.

Against all odds, he turns out to be correct.

With little left in Quahog, Peter leads the family on the road to search for a Twinkie factory.

After encountering a very annoyingRandy Newman, they set up a New Quahog.

“Da Boom!”

This story also has one of the show’s funniest moments: Joe preparing to battle a giant rat.

Taken together, this sci-fi classic shows whyFamily Guyis one ofthe most legendary animated shows from the 90s.

Brian suggests they light some candles and read, but instead they listen to the story ofA New Hope.

Peter starts with a good joke: “Let’s begin with Part 4.”
