ROSE McGOWAN: Cassandra is certainly a complex character, and thats what I liked about her.
She had a lot of different layers and certainly is not necessarily what meets the eye.
Shes got her own plots going, no matter what.
CL
I think shes always thinking of a different angle.
What actually drew you to this role?
McGOWAN: The first thing that drew me toSVUis the fact that I actually watch it.
My sister and I once got sucked into a 10-hour marathon, and watched it for an entire Saturday.
I was like, Wow, what an amazing show!
They have had such an amazing line-up of people that go in and out of it.
And, Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni are so good.
Were you able to identify with your character?
What did you like or dislike about the character?
McGOWAN: I didnt really dislike anything about her.
If youre playing somebody, you just are them, so you dont like or dislike them.
Its be whether you like or dislike yourself, I suppose.
You cant really look at it from the outside perspective.
McGOWAN: Well, I dont think the online grid limitations were the part that was challenging.
I believe I was grateful for that.
Sometimes they can actually benefit you.
(Co-executive producer) Dan Truly is a genius, in the way that he couched it.
Once you see the episode, youll know that Bombshell has a double meaning.
Do you see yourself as a bombshell, in any way?
McGOWAN: When Im at home in sweatpants, I dont feel like it.
Sometimes Im dressed up, but I dont put the name tag on myself.
Thats something for somebody else to do.
What it was like to work with Ryan Hurst?
McGOWAN: Ryan was a doll.
I really could not have liked him more.
He a gentle giant and he was great fun to act with.
That was a good stroke of luck for me.
As a fan of the show, what was it like to be on set that first day?
McGOWAN: I was.
But, I was immediately put at ease.
Im not going to lie, I dont know if I was intimidated as much as a bit scared.
I was like, Oh, I hope everybodys nice, because sometimes you dont luck out.
Sometimes people arent nice and its harder, in some ways, to do your job.
They were just really kind and really generous, and thats not often the case.
How would you compare your time spent on theLaw & Orderset to that of some of your other projects?
McGOWAN: Its always interesting, going into another world thats been set up.
Obviously, theyve been doing this for a long time, so theyre a pretty well-oiled machine.
Mariska and Chris are great, and the crew is fantastic.
It could have certainly been a lot more intimidating than it turned out to be.
So, noCharmedreunion then?
