Kamen simply felt there was nothing more he could offer to grow Daniel throughMiyagis teachings.
Additionally, actor Macchio was pushing into his 30s, clearly outgrowing teenage Daniel despite his boyish looks.
The break from the formula was something Columbia Pictures was uncomfortable with.

This one character would have made a great show even better.
If Kamen had his way in 1989, it is possible theCobra Kaiseries may not have existed at all.
