Though Margaret is ecstatic to have her son home after so long, not all is as it seems.

Many characters inFoundare skeptical about “Jamie,” and so are we.

Is This Person The Actual Jamie Reed Or An Impostor?

Jamie Reed in Found

Here are a few things that make us suspicious of Jamie.

Gone more than a decade, the timing of his reemergence is suspicious.

And while Margaret is a very kind and tragic character, she is alsonot the best mother.

Additionally, Jamie is said to have a mole on his elbow that is suspiciously absent.

Gabi Mosely isn’t just Gabi Mosely.

She’s also Faust fromFaustand Felice fromJazz.

Lacey Quinn (Gabrielle Walsh) isn’t just Lacey Quinn but also Brutus fromJulius CaesarandCassandra from Greek mythology.

Even the series antagonist, Hugh “Sir” Evans, gets a plethora of literary and mythological allusions.

And there are obvious parallels between Sir and Der Erlkonig, theking of the faeries who steals children.

So, if Jamie is indeed an impostor, this could be a reference to changeling mythology.

Foundis a contemporary, completely mundane series.

So Jamie wouldn’tliterallybe a changeling, but the subtext is there.

The police had Christine institutionalized after she insisted the impostor was not her son.

And while Margaret has been incredibly receptive and welcoming to Jamie,Foundhas firmly established there is something amiss.

What If This Really Is Jamie Reed?

He might not have the identifying mole, but moles can fade.

An actual impostor would do anything not to get caught.

Jamie can hardly get a word out without drawing attention.

Foundhas also been exploring the ways trauma can inexorably alter a person.

Gabi directly attributesher father’s alcoholismto the trauma from her kidnapping.

And Gabi herself has a whole host of issues from her year at the farmhouse.

It’s very possible that JamieisJamie.

He’s also just a vastly different person than he was before his disappearance.

There’s a likelihood that Jamie was never kidnapped in the first place.

Jamie, feeling neglected by his mother, could have simply run away.

Children running away to make their parents prove they’re wanted is nothing new.

Jamie is just as thorny around Margaret as Taylor, her daughter, was in Season One.

And if anyone inFoundknows what it’s like to have a bad mom, it’s Sir.

He obviously didn’t get the closure he wanted out of that relationship.

Regardless, the Jamie question is certain to continue into the latter half ofFound’ssecond season.

Perhaps Jamie is an impostor intent on infiltrating M&A for some dastardly end.

Or, perhaps, Jamie is Jamie and his character’s arc will revolve around reconnecting with Margaret.

Gabi could forgive her imperfect father.

It seems Sir hasn’t forgiven his imperfect mother.

How will Jamie cope with Margaret’s uncomfortable complexity?

We’ll just have to wait and see.
