The film follows the crew of the USS Caine, a U.S. Navy destroyer-minesweeper, under the command of Captain Queeg, portrayed by Humphrey Bogart. Queeg’s increasingly erratic behavior and questionable decisions lead Lieutenant Steve Maryk to relieve him of command during a typhoon, believing Queeg is unfit for duty.
