But Reeves wasn’t the only person to speak with Lawrence ahead of the release.

you could watch the full interview in the player above or read the transcript below.

COLLIDER: I wanted to start off by saying how much I lovedConstantinewhen I was younger.

FRANCIS LAWRENCE: Can I ask how old you were when you saw the movie?

Did you see it in the theater?

I was 10, and yes, I saw it in the theaters.

I have very cool parents.

LAWRENCE: Wow, that’s cool!

My dad took me to seeAlienwhen I was nine in the theater.

Did that really help shape your…?

LAWRENCE: 100%.

I love that.

What was that process like for you getting that post-production team back together again to revisit the film?

I was like, How are you guys not doing this digitally?

you might do Windows.

Movie

It was still very early.

I think the Coen Brothers didO, Brother[Where Art Thou?]

or something, and they were sort of one of the first-ish to do it.

It was brand new, and nobody wanted to do it.

It was not standard.

He was familiar with the movie, plus all of our body of work before and afterConstantine.

So it’s not even like getting the old team back together with him.

Thinking about that, there’s been so much conversation over the years about how film is losing color.

You have a very long history in the film industry.

Have you seen that from the on-set side of things?

It always makes me think of that switch from film to digital and the way things are being colored.

LAWRENCE: I don’t know.

I haven’t heard that conversation.

Everybody has a different thing they’re into, especially filmmakers.

You look at certain filmmakers, and they have very specific looks.

Even Chris Nolan, you look at his and you might kind of get a sense.

They might be kind of green or amber, or they might be sort of muted.

I think a lot of people do like muted tones.

There’s a lot of variety out there.

Im opening a big, giant can of worms talking about digital versus film.

I’m a digital guy, so I could talk for a long time about that.

But yeah, I don’t know where that color conversation goes for.

I think, honestly, it’s just the filmmakers taste.

People go through phases.

I’m interested in revisitingConstantine.

Has your opinion changed on any of the scenes within the film?

So there’s plenty I look at, and I feel like I could have improved upon.

We had a lot of fun designing those sequences.

I think those are some of the standout sequences in the movie that are super specific.

Will ‘Constantine’ Ever Recieve an Extended Cut?

Was there a temptation to work on an extended cut version of it, as well?

I have to say, quite honestly, people ask me about director’s cuts all the time.

I always feel like the best version is the version we’ve released.

But yeah, I’ve never had that.

It’s like, I don’t want you guys to see the four-hour cut.

Is that just essentially the assembly cut version of it?

But usually, they all have some entrance, they all have some exit.

You don’t have the flow of the movie yet.

Then, looking back, I’m like, Yeah, that serves no purpose for the plot.

In the moment, you’re like, Yeah, we should get coverage of that.

We should do this, but ultimately, it doesn’t end up in there.

So, some of the most impressive emptying of streets ended up getting completely excised from the movie.

For the sequel, are there any comics that you look to?

Because there have been 20 years of additional comics since then.

I think we’ve actually come up with something really cool.

I can’t wait to see it.

I’m curious, have you been visited by the actual John Constantine over the years?

LAWRENCE: I have not.

I’ve never heard that urban legend.

I gotta look it up.

I will look it up.

They’ve been like, I’m at a bar, and he’s smoking a cigarette.

It’s the wildest thing.

There are three completely sane comic creators who have talked about it.

LAWRENCE: That’s amazing.

That’ll be cool.

Now that I’m saying this has never happened to me, now I probably will.

I’ve jinxed it.

I thinkThe Long Walkwrapped in September.

How far along are you with that cut?

LAWRENCE: We’re almost done.

Actually, that’s why I’m going to London is to do the score for it.

The cut is, for the most part, locked.

I’m really happy with it.

I think it’s really unique.

I worked with J.T.

Mollner, who didStrange Darling, who wrote a great draft, and it came together really quickly.

The cast is so good, and the performances are great.

I’m super happy with it.

I can’t wait to see that, hopefully, maybe towards the end of the year.

Are you also involved with the newHunger Gamesmovie?

LAWRENCE: I am.

I’m shooting that this year.

We’ve actually just started prep.

The book comes out in mid-March.

We have sort of like a research phase of prep.

I know fans have been like fan casting five dozen different actors for Haymitch.

It’s really fun to see how excited people are for the movie.

LAWRENCE: Yeah, I’m really, really excited for it.

Very, very excited.

Have you started on that process of casting a Haymitch yet?

LAWRENCE: Yeah, like research.

Then that was my final question, are you still attached to theBioShockproject?

LAWRENCE: I am.

We’re still working on that.

That’s one, also, that I’m very excited about.
